Christian specialises in both environmental and architectural/building acoustics. Over the last 15 years he has gained experience in acoustic consultancy in the Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom and New Zealand. He first encountered Styles Group whilst reviewing acoustic assessments (for resource consent applications) for Council. Winning this contract allowed Christian good insight into the work done by acoustic consultancies across Auckland. When the opportunity arose to join the company – it was an easy decision.
Within his current role Christian continues to review acoustic assessments and appear as acoustic expert witness for Auckland Council. He now also provides these services for Notices of Requirement for large roading infrastructure projects both in the wider Auckland and Waikato regions. He is known for communicating technical expertise in a clear and practicable manner. He is a primary, contributing author to the NZ Transport Agency’s ‘State highway guide to acoustics treatment of buildings’(DRAFT) and the lead author of a review of the ‘New Zealand Standard NZS 6806:2010 Acoustics – Road traffic noise – New and altered roads’ commissioned by the Board of Inquiry (BOI) into the Christchurch Southern Motorway Stage 2, where he also appeared as an expert witness to the BOI.
Christian focuses on providing his clients with cost effective and pragmatic solutions – that incorporate best acoustics practice – for application to real world situations. Work includes acoustic assessments both in support of, and in opposition to, proposals ranging from marina’s to turf and facilities upgrades for recreational reserves, concerts and sporting events, aircraft noise, cleanfills, residential and mixed-use developments... etc.
A highly motivated consultant with strong organisational skills Christian successfully leads project teams to meet tight deadlines. He is the lead acoustic consultant for prestigious developments both in the UK and NZ. These most recently include the acclaimed Ostro Bar and Brasserie set within the historic Seafarer’s Mission in the Britomart and the refurbishment of Television Central for TVNZ at 101 Victoria Street both in Auckland. The latter of these projects has a heavy focus on building acoustics working closely with the client, architect and other engineering disciplines to provide a modern, world-class, multi-media broadcasting facility.
Outside of work, Christian enjoys racing with Richmond Yacht Club and RNYS out of Westhaven. He also enjoys running, having previously completed the Auckland marathon.
